VASSA Advancing Access to Knowledge:

Introducing the First Allied Healthcare Professionals Programme

The World Federation of Vascular Societies will showcase the best in vascular surgery in the international community hosted by VASSA (Stellenbosch from the 2nd – 5th October 2014).

This initiative has provided an excellent opportunity to showcase developments in vascular surgery internationally. Historically this meeting has not included a programme specifically for allied healthcare professionals (AHCP) such as nurses.

VASSA has identified this as an opportunity to establish a programme dedicated to AHCP, meeting specific needs relevant to vascular patients. The presentations will encompass management of vascular patient’s throughout the continuum of care (pre, intra and post-operative). Topics include (but are not limited to): early identification of vascular pathology; basic sciences; diabetes; wound care; venous thromboembolism; interpreting lab results – clinical implications and rehabilitation.

We anticipate attendance from many other countries and aim to create a programme that is pertinent, transcending and bridging the divide that exists in the provision of healthcare.

Our objective is to ensure that irrespective of where in the world the delegates are from, they will acquire knowledge that is practical and implementable. Ultimately improving the way patients are managed and resulting in improved outcomes.

In order to ensure we put together the best possible programme we are collaborating with global vascular nursing societies. The interest shown thus far has been phenomenal.

We look forward to setting a precedent and hosting an exceptional event, with major input and attendance from South African health care professionals.

This congress provides trade with a number of opportunities, details of which will be emailed by Eastern Sun Events and discussed at the upcoming trade meeting.
