Online Fundraising Champions Rocking ItOur online fundraising champions have been working very hard to promote their fundraising pages, and have collectively raised a whopping R 39 497 thus far – Nerissa Naidoo has set the bar by raising R18 615 and is still going strong. Well done Nerissa! Nerissa reveals why she is raising funds online for Shavathon: “Six years ago, I lost a beautiful friend, someone I treated & loved as my very own sister. A light- hearted soul, full of joy and positive energy. We laughed ourselves silly during the precious time we spent together, taking life day by day. Even though there were many moments of pain & heartache, wonderful memories were created… and a PROMISE made! She said: ‘When I’m better, we will shave off our hair together.’ And I said: ‘Of course we will!’ It didn’t go according to plan, because my soldier is no longer with us, but the time has come for me to fulfil my PROMISE. Let’s do it for our soldiers who bravely face their challenges with smiles on their faces.” Luc Janssens has raised a lot of interest and money thus far – R13 456, because the people supporting him, want CHANGE! Says Luc, “As a lot of you know, I have been growing my hair for quite some time (more than 2 years) and I was thinking that it’s time for a change. So if any of you guys want to get the shock of your lives and see me with no hair, PLEASE donate.” Luc, we think you are fantastic for making your change in hairstyle count for those affected by cancer – you are AWESOME! We salute these champions and urge you to consider raising funds online yourself – make your action at Shavathon 2018 count more than R50, by challenging your loved ones to support your participation, whether you are spraying, shaving or donating your hair, they can show their support by making an online donation to your fundraising page. Top fundraisers will receive fantastic prizes. Competition closes on 31 March 2018, midnight. Any funds coming in after this deadline, will not count towards deciding the winner(s) of the competition.
